Community Guidelines

Project Sunrise is a community initiative to support people navigating stress, burnout and mental health struggles. We create safe spaces to connect, move and learn with like-minded people without pressure, judgement or expectation.

By fostering community, sharing experiences, and encouraging meaningful movement, we aim to empower people to reconnect, rebuild, and move forward with renewed purpose.

We don’t mess around with our community guidelines. If something doesn’t feel right, we encourage our community members to speak to one of the co-founders or their meetup’s community leader. Any behaviour that breaches these guidelines at an in-person event may result in someone being asked to leave. Posts in WhatsApp that breach these guidelines may be removed, and the person responsible removed from the community immediately.

Welcome to Project Sunrise! We hope you’ll help us make this a safe space for everyone.

Be kind and respectful of others, always.

Personal attacks, harassment, verbal aggression, discrimination or hate speech won’t be tolerated.

No promos, please.

Please don’t pitch or promote businesses, services or events. If you’re unsure, just ask first.

We’re peer support, not professional support.

Project Sunrise offers connection, community and a safe place to be heard. We do not provide professional counselling, therapy or crisis support. If you need this level of support, please reach out to a GP, mental health professional or the support services listed here.

What’s shared in our community stays there.

Please don’t share another member’s personal information outside the community without explicit consent.

WhatsApp guidelines

Project Sunrise is first and foremost an in-person community, but our WhatsApp chats help us stay connected and share updates. When posting in WhatsApp, please keep the following in mind:

  • Many members are feeling overwhelmed or stretched. Be mindful of message volume and notification overload.

  • Honest sharing is welcome, but please refrain from posting about topics that could be triggering for others (e.g. suicide, self-harm). Please also refrain from posting advice or asking for advice about things like medication – this is a medical professional’s domain. If you need urgent or crisis support, please contact the support services listed here.

  • When trying to organise activities outside of Project Sunrise’s events, please use the General Chat to check interest, then move discussion to a separate chat to reduce notification overload for others. If you’d like to set up a new Project Sunrise event, chat to one of us first.

  • Our admins are volunteers and humans too. If you have an issue with a moderation decision, please message one of us directly. Aggression or abuse towards admins will result in removal from the WhatsApp community.
